IN THIS ARTICLE:

Our Free Food blog is back and in full swing for April 2023. We’ve got a run down of what you can get your hands on this month.

Some are completely free, others you’ll need to make a purchase to qualify.

It's time to take a break from crying over your tax return and cheer yourself up by treating yourself to some freebies 🙌

In previous years, chains have given away decent freebies and generous discounts on Tax Day.

We’ve listed a few freebies below but keep your eyes peeled as we get closer to April 18 in case there are any announcements closer to the time 🔈

Free treats

🍦 Ben & Jerry’s: Free cone day is back on April 3 and it’s being celebrated in Scoop Shops around the world (find your local scoop shop). Choose a cone or scoop of any flavor you like. Winning.

🍪 Great American Cookies: One free Chocolate Chip Cookie on Tax Day. One for those with a sweet tooth to watch out for.

🧊 Kona Ice: National Tax Day can be a stressful day so Kona Ice is offering a free Kona Ice to help chill you out. You just need to head down to your local participating Kona Ice truck (find your nearest).

🍦 Carvel: On Thursday April 30, Carvel is celebrating Free Cone Day by giving you one free junior ice cream cone in either vanilla, chocolate, or Nutella at participating locations from 3 to 8pm.

🍨 Marble Slab Creamery: On Tax Day, loyalty members tend to get free ice cream with the purchase of a Regular or Best Value ice cream. Go get it.

Free fast food

🥨 Pretzelmaker: In honor of National Pretzel Day on Sunday April 26, Pretzelmaker’s handing out a free soft pretzel (find your nearest). But there’s a twist - you’ll only be eligible if you can recite a tongue-twister phrase 👀

🛒 7-Eleven: On your next visit, you can get a free two-pack of Doritos Loaded until Thursday April 30. All you need to do is download the app (iOS/Android) and register to get a special barcode to get your free snack.

We’ll also just mention that you can also money on Gas at 7-Eleven this April when you sign up for Fuel Savings. (PSA this isn’t food. Sorry.) You’ll save 11¢/gal on your first seven trips and 5¢/gal every time after that

Free birthday food

If it’s not your birthday, it is now.

Head over to Where to get free food on your birthday for the full list.

And if you’re looking for more ways to save money on food…

Use apps like Olio and Too Good to Go ♻️

More than $408 billion in food is thrown away each year. And nearly 40% of all food in the US is wasted.

Those are some BIG figures.

But apps like Olio and Too Good to Go are helping fight the good fight 🌎

For a slice of the price, you can help save perfectly good food before it’s thrown in the trash.

And it’s not just restaurants that sign up to the apps, it’s grocery stores too. At certain times throughout the day (mainly towards the end), you can grab some great deals.

✅ Bonuses: You’ll be helping fight food waste by eating delicious food.

❌ Downsides: You do have to pay some money, but you get a good chunk of it for free.

Just one more thing… Always check rewards apps before visiting a restaurant. We wouldn’t want you or your wallet to miss out on the latest deals 💡

Feel like you’re throwing too much at food each month? We feel you.
A budget can really help you figure out how much you’re spending (ahem, takeaways) and where you can start saving.

Enjoy this post? Give it a share or send it along to a friend. You never know, it could make a big difference.

Big love. Cleo 💙
