Does the Cleo Card report to credit bureaus?
Yes: All credit cards companies, including the Cleo Card, share a few pieces of info about your spending and payments with credit bureaus.
Will my credit score go up?
Credit bureaus calculate your score while looking at all your credit products together. So they’ll take your Cleo Card activity combined with all other credit activity to calculate any changes to your score.
If you're a Plus or Builder subscriber, you can keep track of your credit score in Request (formerly Borrow).
Why is the Cleo Card better for my credit score?
Easy on-time payments
On-time payments are the best way you can help boost your score.
With most credit cards, you have to come up with the money after spending it to pay your bill. With the Cleo Card, you set aside the money before you spend it, so you always have the money to pay your bill on time.
To make it even easier to pay on time, you can set up carefree credit building, which automatically repays your Cleo Card statement from your security deposit:
Go to Spend
Tap Manage card
Tap Change payment method
Switch on Carefree credit building
No spending limit
Another thing that can affect your score is how much of your credit line you use, called credit utilization. For example, if you spend $50 of your $100 card limit, you’re at 50% credit utilization. Usually, the less you spend of your limit, the better it is for your credit score.
With the Cleo Card there’s no limit to your spending – as long as you set aside the cash first. You can spend every cent without it affecting your credit utilization. In fact, because there’s no limit, your credit utilization isn’t even shared with credit bureaus.
