Because of varying regulations between states, cash advances aren’t available everywhere in the US. Right now, you can’t request a cash advance or subscribe to Plus or Builder in the following states:
Connecticut
Maine
What Cleo features can I get if I live in Connecticut?
In Connecticut, you can no longer subscribe to Plus or Builder, or request a cash advance.
If you were already subscribed to Builder before October 1st, 2023 or before moving to Connecticut, you will be able to keep your Builder subscription and your Cleo Card, but you will not have access to cash advance.
What Cleo features can I get if I live in Maine?
In Maine, you can no longer subscribe to Plus or Builder, or request a cash advance.
If you were already subscribed to Builder and had an active Cleo Card before July 7th, 2025, your Builder subscription and your Cleo Card will remain active, but you’ll no longer be able to request a cash advance.
If you were subscribed to Builder but did not have a Cleo Card, your subscription will be changed to the free tier.
It’s possible that new subscription options without cash advance will be available in the future, so please keep an eye out.
What happens if I'm already subscribed to Plus?
If you live in a state where you can no longer request a cash advance, your subscription to Plus will no longer renew and your subscription will be changed to the free tier.
If you have an outstanding cash advance, you can repay your advance the same as you always have by going to Request (formerly Borrow).
