Why Cleo

The Money App That Roasts You

Because sometimes you need tough love 💅

Do you often check your bank account and think “where the hell has my money gone” and you’re just genuinely ~oblivious~ to where it all went? Ok, roast mode’s for you 🔥

We’ve all been there. We know what it’s like to look at our balance and see a hundred dollars or so less than what we thought we had (Zara plz stop with the personalized ads).

It’s a Cleo mode, unlike hype mode’s 🌈 good vibes 🌈, she playfully shames you via GIFs and throws harsh burns about how much you’ve spent and how little you’ve saved in the last few days, week, month and year.

Most people have no idea how much they’re spending and it can be pretty shocking when Cleo gives you the totals.

Roast mode aims to help you put your finances in order by picking up on your bad spending habits and roasting the shit out of you for it (all for educational purposes, of course 🤑).

If you aren’t already familiar with Cleo’s no BS tone of voice, brace yourselves (it’s nothing personal… actually no it kinda is).

Jokes aside, Cleo’s the way she is because she genuinely wants to help you make better financial decisions.

And roast mode shows you exactly where your money’s going (and if you’re throwing too much at capitalist overlords 🙄), so that you can take control of your spending habits.

FYI this is definitely not mine.

Screenshots of roast mode. We need to talk. About what? Admiral insurance $371, ASOS $358, Zara $224. Another. You've received $972. The bad news is you're going to waste it all on ASOS and Admiral Insurance. Onwards. You've spent more this month than last month, you're basically losing in a race where you're the only person competing. Hit me

Ok FINE, it is mine. It's all mine. I feel ✨ personally victimized ✨

Car insurance was something I legally had to buy but I’m kinda starting to think I should stop chucking so much money at online shopping.

Top tip: prepare yourself, she’ll tell you how much you’ve spent over the last 12 months 🙃

If Gordon Ramsay had a show called ‘Money Nightmares’ and saw how much I’ve spent over the last year, I’d legit have tinnitus right now.

💙 “She roasted me but it was worth it. No idea where my money was going and it’s nice to have her help. Worth it.”

💙 “She roasts me when I mess up but compliments me when I do good and that’s what keeps me in check, she also learns which is great cause I live paycheck to paycheck so it’s wonderful that she adjusts to what my paycheck usually is.”

💙 “I love Cleo’s sass. She’s exactly what I need to help me manage my budget better.”

Download the money app Cleo and let roast mode tell you where you’re going wrong 😎

Your finances might not be where you want them to be right now and it’s not going to be an overnight thing, but the first step to financial success is spotting where you’re going wrong and taking ownership 🙌

Enjoy this post? Def give it a share or send it along to a friend. You never know, it could make a big difference. And of course, if you want to try the best money app in the world for free, just hit this link right here.

Big love. Cleo 💙

Life at Cleo

Getting twice as much out of half as many stand-ups

At Cleo, we're very much about iterating on our agile process and finding the right approach for each team. As we entered Q3 of 2020, we significantly changed the makeup of one of our teams. The team was operating on auto-pilot since the change and was continuing to follow the agile processes that the team had been following in Q2. We noticed that the cycle times were increasing rapidly not long after, which set off some alarm bells.
