Is there anything more annoying than employers not advertising what they pay?
It’s a total waste of time if after the second or third interview you’re offered a wage and you’re just like “hell nah.”
We’ve all been there.
And because pay isn’t always clear (not us throwing shade👀), we’ve taken data from job boards where previous employees have reviewed their pay. So the figures may not be completely accurate, but they should give you a ballpark so you’ll know roughly what to expect 🤑
Obviously the wage will depend on different factors including which state you live in, and if the stores are owned directly by the company or separately by franchisees…
Basically, in some instances, franchisees have the right to set your wages to what they think they should be, so they could just pay you the bare minimum.

Whereas, stores owned directly by the company could pay you slightly more.
We’ve also listed a few of the benefits each employer offers because it’s just as important to know about these.
Benefits can differ depending how many hours you work, so you might want to clarify what’s what during the interview and then make sure the benefits you were promised are in your employment contract 💅
🥫 GROCERY STORES
#1 HOW MUCH DOES TRADER JOE’S PAY?
According to data collected by Indeed, the average hourly wage for Trader Joe’s is $18.68 which is 47% above the national average.
Winning.
The average hourly wage for a Retail Sales Associate is around $17.24.
Aside from the competitive pay, you’ll also get a retirement plan, 20% discount on all products in stores, and health plans.

#2 HOW MUCH DOES COSTCO PAY?
The average hourly wage for Costco employees is $17, and if you’re scheduled to work on a Sunday, you could be earning $25.50 per hour.
Costco says it offers affordable health care coverage for full-time and part-time employees, and contributions to company-sponsored retirement plans. There’s also paid sick, vacation, and leave policies which they say are competitive by retail standards.
Didn’t ask about the 2lb buckets of peanut butter, but I’m pretty sure they fall of the truck…a lot.

#3 HOW MUCH DOES ALDI PAY?
According to PayScale, the average hourly wage at Aldi is $16.38.
Some of the employee benefits provided by Aldi include health insurance, life insurance, dental and vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan.

#4 HOW MUCH DOES TARGET PAY?
The average Target hourly pay starts at $15 per hour but back in February, Target announced it would be increasing the starting wage to $24 for some workers.
And Target’s hourly employees who work a minimum average of 25 hours a week should also be able to enroll into the medical plan.
Good luck not dropping your paycheck on house ware though, am I right?
Target has a range of benefits including medical, vision, and dental. Plus company paid national holidays and paid family leave.

#5 HOW MUCH DOES WHOLEFOODS PAY?
Back in 2018, Whole Foods increased its minimum hourly wage to $15. And if you work your way up to a department manager, you could expect to earn typically around $21 per hour.
Some of the benefits include comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance. Access to career learning and development, and a 401k or a HSA plan. Plus an in-store discount of 20%.

According to PayScale, the average wage at Kroger is $12.49 plus a $4k bonus.

#9 HOW MUCH DOES WALGREENS PAY?
Back in August 2021, Walgreens increased the starting wage for all hourly team members to $15 an hour. The pay should be increased by November this year.
Benefits include 401(k) retirement plan, employee stock purchase plan, flu shots, and medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance coverage.

Obviously not fans of impossible beauty standards, but if you need a job, no judgement from us.
According to PayScale, Victoria Secret Sales Associate’s can make an average of $14.66 an hour, plus an average bonus of $3k.

The average hourly pay for Bath and Body Works is $12.86 for Sales Associate roles according to PayScale. Retail Store Assistant Manager’s earn the most at approximately $19 per hour.

#18 HOW MUCH DOES STARBUCKS PAY?
Back in 2021, Starbucks announced they would be increasing the minimum wage of $15 per hour to $17.
According to USA Today, employees who’ve worked at the chain for two or more years, could receive up to a 5% raise. And those who’ve worked there for 5 or more years could see an increase of 10%.
If they don’t offer all-you-can-drink PSLs, we’re not interested 💅
Starbucks offer employees health coverage, stocks and savings (including a 401(k) retirement plan), parental leave and more.

Back in 2021, Forbes said Taco Bell would be increasing its minimum wage to $15 an hour across company-owned restaurants.

Base pay is how much DoorDash contributes for each order and usually ranges between $2-10+ depending on the time, distance, and desirability of the order.
You can earn more bucks during the busier times (peak pay). And you’re entitled to 100% of your tips (so you should be).
According to PayScale, the average hourly wage for DoorDash employees is $16.02.
